Mental health problems impact many working Canadians and leaders can feel ill-equipped to recognize warning signs and respond effectively when issues arise. This course builds awareness of the impact of mental health issues and stigma on the workplace while equipping leaders with practical and immediately transferable skills for leading a mentally healthy workplace.
Upon completion of the 3.5-hour workshop, participants will gain improved awareness of mental health issues and resources to support employees, as well as practice applying:
- Communication strategies for improving trust and reducing the impact of stigma and other barriers
- Coaching skills for responding to sensitive employee health and performance issues
- Solution-focused approaches to promote health and resiliency for themselves and their teams
In addition, participants in the 7-hour workshop will explore:
- Practical strategies such as workplace accommodation, to support mental health outcomes
- Communication practices for promoting a healthy and productive team environment
- Opportunities to practice skills and receive feedback in a supportive learning environment
